Rain Brings LifePosted by Bill Ault (GBA, Canada) on 5 October 2008 in Plant & Nature. When everything else is dying off the fall rains have brought an explosion of fungi and mushrooms of various colours and textures. On another note although I don't like to use this forum as an opportunity to preach - at least not often I think many might be interested in the following not just for the stunning photography but the story behind the pictures. The images are both powerful and moving. They highlight the awful disease XDR -TB, a new and deadly form of tuberculosis that is threatening to become a global pandemic.By viewing and passing on this link we can help to spread awareness, which is the first step to halting the disease. XDRTB.ORG The photographs were taken by leading photojournalist James Nachtwey and were 'unveiled' on October 3rd, 2008 in more than 50 cities on seven continents as a deliberate attempt to highlight this new danger faced by the world.

Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesAs with Observing's photo, this one seems like being at home... A great variety of these fungi appear soon after a rain. Yeah, I checked out the link... believe it or not it hasn't been that long in the U.S. that TB was a killer. My grandfather and my grandmother on my mom's side both died of complications leaving her an orphan. 5 Oct 2008 2:48pm @Earnest: TB I knew about this new strain I had not heard about. Makes one thankful for what one has everyday....
