Canada Geese preparing for the flight south for the winter....

I've seen several "V's" of these guys this year --- but not always going south... Not sure what's going on here.

@Earnest: They are not really moving here yet either and to be truthful many of the geese stay year round now thanks to our milder winters - the majority move on but a hardy bunch hang in much longer than they used too.

In this area they don't leave, they are here all year! Right next to the snow geese when they arrive. This is a beautiful composition, love the colors.

Lovely image. I like the way the geese heads are turned into their bodies ,mimicing the way the grasses are bent.

@MaryP: You caught me on that one MaryP - I hadn't noticed the mimicry - but now that you've pointed it out it is probably the major reason I liked the shot after looking at it for a while.... I notice a few didn't get the notice to turn their heads though ;-)

This is a very good shot Bill, colorwise - it's excellent, and the reeds behind the geese is the finishing touch !

I love Canadian Geese... such beautiful creatures..though they leave such a mess ;). Wonderful colors and I too like the grasses with the water.
