Crossing PathsPosted by Bill Ault (GBA, Canada) on 7 November 2008 in Animal & Insect. Two garter snakes looking for a warm spot to bunker down for winter cross paths in the autumn leaves.... it was so quiet on this day that you could hear them moving in the leaves before you saw them... probably not best if you do not like snakes!

Betty from New Jersey, United StatesSounds like it was wonderful to be there and see this... to have it be so quiet you could hear them moving! Nice shot! 7 Nov 2008 11:28am @Betty: Thanks Betty - hearing them was the one sure way of spotting them as they moved through the leaves... Philip from Joburg, South AfricaGreat capture of these garter snakes lucky you heard them first !! 7 Nov 2008 12:31pm @Philip: Well the garters are harmless but never the less do startle me almost every time I come across one.. Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesGood shot, Bill... I have encountered a few warming up in the sun too... 7 Nov 2008 10:42pm @Earnest: it was a fine day for warming but I'd think most have found their winter homes by now (a week or so later)... Fawn from Chilliwack, CanadaVery neat shot! My daughter would be ecstatic looking at this - she's 7 and a huge snake fun. Great capture! 8 Nov 2008 7:27pm @Fawn: well everyone has their favourite - I don't mind them but... |
