Time TravellerPosted by Bill Ault (GBA, Canada) on 10 November 2008 in Transportation. Named for Canada's first prime minister the locomotive came to life in 1913, built in Kingston at the site of the former Canadian Locomotive Company. The engine criss-crossed the country for Canadian Pacific Railway, spending most of its time in Winnipeg before coming to the end of its line in Montreal before being moved to Kingston as a memorial. You can find almost everything you would ever want to know about the man here.

Betty from New Jersey, United StatesI absolutely LOVE steam locomotives! This is a great shot! This one just sits as a memorial? 10 Nov 2008 11:06am @Betty: Yes and unfortunately it is suffering for just sitting... @Earnest: Thanks Earnest Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomAh the age of steam, the smell of steam and smoke, the hot metal of the boiler, and hissing of the pistons, I remember it all. Nice to see this loco has been preserved. Good shot and nicely framed. 10 Nov 2008 9:38pm @Observing: thanks Mike - I knew you were old but ;-) |
